This is a piece you cannot ignore and is my favourite to date. The darkness all but consumes the central part of the seated figure and was another piece I could not stop working on until it was complete.

Painting with fingers on such a large canvas allows me to really explore the tones of the body, the way the light falls and how that is then represented in a limited two-colour palette.

The finest part of the painting, by far, is the stomach. That is my opinion at least. I’m going to be sad to see it go so I hope it finds a new home that appreciates it as much as I do.
