This is a seated female nude painted in an abstract painted in a post expressionist manner. In a larger pieces like this; I like to work quickly. Once the model is posing I will quickly choose my view but will make no preliminary sketches. All experiential work happens in the painting process. The flattened appearance is deliberate with no shadows or attempt to create background space. This gives it the deliberate appearance of a poster.

When painting the figure I am primarily concerned with the juxtapositions of colours; and the emotion they may create in the viewer.
