In 'Not like you'd expect', I explore the boundaries of the tangible and intangible using tumbling, yielding, soft underlying layers using a fairly limited palette and which are anchored by the darker structure over top.
I'd suggest there's hints of the work of Paul Klee and William Baziotes here, maybe even a touch of Richard Diebenkorn as I'm also a landscape painter albeit in a more realist style.
My main takeaway from some of these artists is that you don't need to exclusively use oil on canvas to create abstract paintings and in some ways, exploring the medium of watercolour in this process is incredibly liberating and exciting.
All the works are produced using the highest quality materials, the medium is Saunders Waterford 140lb 100% cotton paper and the pigments are professional Winsor & Newton or Holbein lightfast paint.
