Original artwork description:

Bold and colorful abstract collage with layer upon layer of paint, fabric, canvas, paper and mark making in varying shades of blue, aqua, purple, black and white with touches of warm earth tones. It was done with acrylic and mixed media on heavy paper. It is signed on the front and back along with the title and date created.

This is a somewhat dark and edgy piece, very raw. I painted it during the Covid lockdowns and during a particular dark time in my personal life. I feel like it is very urban and raw.

I name my pieces by what occurred while painting the piece. What moved me, what struggles had to be overcome, my mood, my train of thought, what the piece reminded me of, sometimes a song that was on and the beat moved me or the lyrics influenced me in some way. Some pieces are named clearly with a bit of humor. I never intentionally start out a painting saying “I’m going to do this, or I’m going to do that”. All of my pieces morph into something that is totally surprising and unexpected.

Original abstract mixed media painting. I incorporate a number of mediums into all of my abstract mixed media works. This original abstract on canvas was created with acrylic paints, colored pencils, and graphite as many of my abstract works have been since I started painting in 2009. I am proud to say that my original paintings hang in the collections of both new and seasoned art collectors alike. Each collector is as important to me as the next and I cherish the ability to do what I love for a living because of all of those who support my art.

Materials used:

acrylic, gesso, charcoal, marker, graphite, pencil, fabric, paper
