2021, "乡愁 (Nostalgia)" - red tuff stone wall sculpture

This original melted volcanic rock wall sculpture is one of the latest artworks of the skilful Bulgarian contemporary professional sculptor Ognyan Chitakov, deeply inspired by naturalism, postmodernism and zen art. The artwork represents the artist's idea of beauty and aesthetics in general. The stones are melted at high degree temperatures, reaching the point where they are back to their origin magma state and then slowly cooled down for days. The artist's concept is to restart the formation of the material and bring it naturally to a new organic shape and name it after beautiful ancient Chinese poems. This wall sculpture is one extraordinary melted red tuff stone masterpiece and exquisite modern home wall décor.

The poem Nostalgia written by Taiwanese writer and poet Yu Guangzhong (1928 – 2017 C.E.) depicts his nostalgia toward his homeland in mainland China’s Nanjing, and is considered a classic by homesick Chinese. Yu fled to Taiwan at the age 21 along with the Nationalists who were defeated by the Communist Party in the Chinese civil war, and the homesickness of the mainland across the Taiwan Strait had since been inscribed in his mind. The poem has been included in the literature curriculum in mainland China and was found empathy with by generations of Chinese.
