Original artwork description:

North Dorset
Cream and dusky pink sky,
Serene atmosphere,
Violet clouds looming,
Ancient Duncliffe hill,
Clay fields and marsh grasses.

Words and feelings of experiencing a local scene in the Blackmore vale of North Dorset in Summer.
Original impressionist watercolour on extra rough textured watercolour paper bockingford 425 gsm 200lb.
I live not far and often come here to search for rare species of fungi. The hill is completely covered in trees and there is many paths to walk up to the top to see the view. It’s very special landscape and it’s protected by the Woodland trust.
I used a wet on wet technique and applied washes with my Chinese hake. I then used a scrubbing technique for the clouds and trees using my sable hair brush. I then let the watercolour painting dry and went back over with wet paint using a filbert brush to create the textural effect over the clouds and field. I etched or scratched out the paint with my finger nail for the grasses in the foreground.

Materials used:

Extra rough textured watercolour paper bockingford 425gsm 200lb, Windsor and Newton Cotman watercolours, sable hair brush, filbert brush, Chinese hake, Chinese brush,
