ORIGINAL OGNYAN CHITAKOV ARTWORK !!!
2022, "Nori" - stone wall sculpture, ready to hang
This original melted volcanic rock wall sculpture is one of the latest artworks of the talented Bulgarian contemporary professional sculptor Ognyan Chitakov, deeply inspired by postmodernism, expressionism and fantasy. The artwork represents one of the dwarf characters from J. R. R. Tolkien's novels The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings. Nori was one of Durin's Folk and likely dwelt in the northern Blue Mountains with Thorin after the latter had settled there. He was one of the thirteen Dwarves of Thorin's company who journeyed to Erebor to challenge the dragon Smaug. After the death of Smaug, Nori lived with his share of the treasure at the Lonely Mountain.
The artist's concept is to melt the artwork's stones at high degree temperatures, reaching the point where they melt, going back to their origin magma state and then slowly cooled down. This way the artist restarts the formation of the stone material and brings it naturally back to a new organic shape and name it after one of Tolkien's fantasy characters. The wall sculpture is one extraordinary melted red tuff masterpiece and exquisite modern home wall décor.
"Each stone material is alive and has a soul. I never ignore it and its gravity as well. I try to give each artwork the feeling of lightness." ... by the artist
