Artwork description:

These copper engravings came into existence in 1999.
I remember being fascinated by ancient cultures, their concepts of beauty and history in general. For me the artefacts found at ancient tombs or other archeological excavations have a mysterious glow - a question mark inherited.

With first sight of the sculpture of Nofretete it was clear to me, that I had to transfer this beauty into my art and I did.
I just recovered these pieces, after almost 20 years, it feels like I just made a (re)discovery myself.

These pieces are also quite unique as they are part of my figurative phase which is definitely long ago and finished....probably.

The surface, the off-white paper has a distinct character, it is handmade (Büttenpapier) and the marks and traces add up to the character.

NOTE
· This series only contains 3 pieces.
· Each is a bit different >> please see "ART IN PROGRESS" to choose your favorite version!
· The size of the actual image is for each piece the same but the size of the paper differs slightly: version 1: 36,3 x 34,5 cm – version 2: 34,7 x 31,5 cm – version 3: 33,5 x 36,5 cm

Materials used:

hand made paper
