This piece, named after the Latin phrase "Carpe Noctem", meaning "Seize the Night",, takes you on a journey through the deep Cerulean and Prussian blues of the night sky, where dreams and imagination flow freely.
The fading light of the evening sky as night falls, reflects on to the still waters below.
My paintings are often inspired by my love and fascination with ever-changing skies and cloud formation. I try to capture the movement and mood of the skies and sea - Calm and dreamy, to dramatic and surreal.
The layers and textures are formed by layering and lifting the oil paint, playing on the fluidity of the medium.
