This painting is the 4th piece of my "Encounter" series. The main character of this series is a bachelor in his early fifties. As I started working on the gentleman's characteristic and the more I was thinking about how I should shape his fate in my story, I became more and more fond of him. Later I realized an inexplicable feeling of déja vu when I was painting him. And from that second I was no longer in control of the events on the canvas.
This part 4 is about the gentleman's first romantic rendez-vous at a coffee shop called "Café de Paris" after an unexpected encounter in the rain with the lady he has never seen before. My ultimate goal with this painting was to capture the moment when their senses tell them they belong to the other one. Because when two souls recognize each other, there's no words needed.
This painting was exhibited in January 2020 at the 'Word Play' juried exhibition of the SOBO Art Gallery in Winter Garden, FL.
This painting got a Special Recognition Award at the 9th Annual "All Women" International Art Competition of Light Space Time Gallery in January 2020. (The gallery received 1047 entries from 34 different countries from around the world.)
