Artwork description:

This scene is about a mile from my home. The bridge used to carry trains between Thetford and Kings Lynn. Most of those old railway bridges have been demolished, for some unknown reason. Overgrown and unnoticed now, it looks as if it were built to last for centuries. Around the commercial hubs of today, old railways are being re-instated wherever practically possible. Who knows where new trains may re-run and bridge the nineteenth and twenty-first centuries.

This print is on a sheet measuring 9¾ x 12¾ inches. The 'Johannot' watermark is in the bottom right corner of each sheet. The colour is 'Prussian Blue', a beguiling hue that seems to change colour according to the level of light. In the early morning or evening it may appear dark grey or black, while in full daylight it is a rich lustrous blue.

Materials used:

oil-based printing ink, Johannot paper
