Original artwork description:

When I´ve started transfering and repainting photos of myself and my family into a sketchbook, it was the only protected place free of my pervasive need to explain to myself why I do what I do. I tried to combine the techniques as I thought and then took them out of the sketchbook to a larger format. I found out with horror that nothing works for me as I imagined, but I stubbornly return to it. Sometimes I am surprised by the satisfaction with the result and I think it is worth the effort. With all this, I find it absolutely ridiculous - how terribly serious I can take myself when it comes to creation and how fast I can stop believing in my abilities. A little help in knowing I'm not the only one. During this groping, I was offered the answer to what I was actually painting. THE SHAPES are our worse faces, which are not taken so seriously by themselves. They laugh at themselves, laugh at others, and only that ability makes them a little better.
