The work is a continuation of my project #everydayifindnewpussy and was part of a photo shoot for the cover of the magazine "Bolshoy" 03.2017.
The #everydayifindnewpussy photo project originated as a declaration of one's own femininity and sexuality. These questions have worried me throughout my adult life. Self-identification as a woman took place in several stages. This project is the result of an internal transition to the 3rd wave of feminism. Having got rid of my inner misogyny, having accepted the reality of being a woman and at the same time not feeling like a person of the second sex, I proclaim femininity for myself with all possible options, without trying to integrate into any of the gender concepts of what a woman “should” be.
This project is a joke and at the same time a challenge, an opposition to the Freudian concept of the penis, beneficial for patriarchal society. Photographing various objects resembling the vulva, I try to draw the viewer into the game, into the search for the feminine in everything, thereby drawing attention to the important problems of the invisibility of women, treating them as second-class people. At the same time, I choose completely different objects, without dwelling on flowers and fruits — delicate and beautiful images replicated in pop culture. This is also a metaphor for accepting myself as I am: strong and weak, tender and tough, uncomfortable, sexy. This is a declaration of a woman's right to be herself, to love herself without regard to existing sterotypes.
