No Money, No Honey is a saying in Thailand. This piece looks at the westerners perception of this country. The black figure in the middle, legs open represents the exotic, hedonistic and lustful allure of this place. Prostitution is high in Thailand and for some this is the only reason to visit. She sits on honey comb referencing the title. It is also inviting and dangerous symbolising the risks involved in the sex worker world. just like the bee has its sting this lifestyle comes with it's own health risks ie HIV. She is flagged by two stupas. The only other thing a lot of tourists think of in Thailand are temples and brothels. The figure stares out at the viewer smiling symbolising how a lot of sex tourists I've met while travelling Thailand see themselves as the ones being exploited. It is a warning that all highs have their lows and pleasures have their cost.
