"I must be a mermaid. I have no fear of depths
and a great fear of shallow living." (Anaïs Nin)
In most fairytales or folk stories, mermaids wish to get rid of their fishtails to join our world with brand-new legs. In my painting, this tradition is reversed: a woman says goodbye to her legs (the shallow living) embracing her diversity and independence. The colorful brain corals deep down are welcoming her love for depths, the uniqueness of her thoughts.
