Artwork description:
Beside popularity, a living cannot be made without income but that is what Dylan Thomas (1914-1953) tried to do. He would borrow and scrounge from anyone willing to provide for him and his family. His financial instability was matched by an unstable temperament and homelife. Suitably then, he ended up literally on a cliff edge, in a garage that became his writing shed. After a lifetime of heavy drinking and a range of undiagnosed conditions, he collapsed into a coma and died in New York City at the age of 39. He wrote, 'Though they go mad they shall be sane, though they sink through the sea they shall rise again; though lovers be lost love shall not; and death shall have no dominion.'
