Original artwork description:

actual title: "i don't want no blood on my lawn, just a flower i can help along"

Vibrant intersection of genres. Though based in part on collage it is all paint in a narrative tapestry, each patch a dialogue suggesting culture, history, and travel both geographic travel and time travel. The truncated word Ascemic refers to the rest of the language present; the words and names are arbitrary graphics operating formally and figuratively rather than being there to caption or explain anything specifically. All of the elements from the deep starry sky to the shallow drop shadows speak to "relief" as the harbinger of illusion. The little inset still life tondos of the scissors and camera are portal references to cutting and pasting and vintage travel photography. The title is a quote from Cat Stevens' song Longer Boats(are coming to win us)

Materials used:

oil on canvas
