Original artwork description:

Acrylic and stone texture on canvas.
61cm x 61cm x 2cm.
This heavily textured piece, depicts a winter lake in snow-fall.
The late afternoon sunlight, in metallic gold, dropping beyond the lake, warms and softens the horizon of the landscape.
My paintings are often inspired by my love and fascination with ever-changing skies and cloud formation. I try to capture the movement and mood of the skies and the many changes the light can make to the atmosphere of a painting - Calm and dreamy, to dramatic and surreal.
To create the cold layers of snow and water reflections, I layered the acrylic thinly, forming light, translucent glazes, over the heavy textured base.
