One of a series of paintings from earlier this year when I was trying things out, in this case a soft limited palette cityscape of Ninth Avenue in New York. I wanted to keep it more painterly and resist my usual temptation to put in too much detail! It's based around a blue/green - red/orange colour complementary; I love using red in paintings and grab any opportunity to use it in cityscapes or landscapes...
