Often in my work I look to capture special, fleeting moments. Transitory events that are gone in a flash. In 'Night turns to Day' the sun lights up the sky as it is about to rise above the distant ridge and bring the foreground world out of the cold blue of night into the warming colours of the day. In moments, night will become day.

This 6 colour silkscreen is hand-printed on 300 gram handmade Somerset velvet and is in a limited edition of 35.

A colour silkscreen print is created by building up an image with several layers of individually printed colours. This process is called colour separation. Each colour has its own 'positive' which is made on acetate or tracing paper (see photos for reference) which is then exposed to a UV light with a screen coated in photo-sensitive emulsion.
