Collage and paper cut pastel work on board.

There’s a small lake in the Longshaw Estate, Derbyshire, which inspired this picture. It’s not a particularly remarkable body of water, but when approached from the ‘wrong’ side - by going 'off-piste' and cutting through the spongy earth and spiked grasses to the north shore, the wooded backdrop can be beautifully moody and striking in the right light. The dusky shadows steal almost all of the greens and blues, and reflect beneath like an inky polished resin.

Mount board, card, paper, pastel.
