This abstract landscape painting emerged from a series of sketches drawn along the Broadway in Old Amersham, Buckinghamshire. The hipped dormer windows in the slate roofs, which run along this stretch of road, are of particular interest. The composition is set in the twilight hours of late autumn with the building blocked in shades of textured rust, ochre and payne’s grey. A fading lichen sky is layered over the image while a single light brings a soft glow to darkened windows.
Mixed media on board in lime wood tray frame hand finished (by me) with beeswax.
acrylic paint, graphite pencil and wax pastel
