Paper lanterns lead the way deep into the magical summer garden, weaving through foliage and blossom heads turned ethereal by deep shadows side-by-side with pinpricks of light.

I wanted this painting to capture a note of nostalgia for the whole sensory experience that is a summer garden - the heady scent, the softness, the inky blue velvet that comes down on you like an embrace plus the preparedness to see ordinary things through wholly different eyes, allowing for magic to occur.

Deep-sided canvas with blue painted sides (a continuation of the background colour), ready to hang.
