Original artwork description:

I can't believe I haven't painted biscuits until now, but here's my second attempt. Having recently painted a Jammy Dodger, the latest in my pop art food series depicts the classic old-school Nice biscuit.

Nice biscuits are probably not anyone's all-time favourite but they are pretty iconic. It's usually a plain or coconut-flavoured biscuit that is thin and rectangular in shape. The name is pronounced like the area in the South of France, so they have that 'continental edge'. Often served with tea! More biscuit paintings will follow.

I love painting food in a graphic, pop art way so that the items become abstract and pattern-like. I'm less interested in realism, or representing healthy or 'fine-dining' food. Instead I prefer to explore the bright colours and nostalgic memories associated with comfort food, processed food, and sweets.

The end result is a bold, bright, and original painting that would brighten up any home, or be the perfect gift for anyone with a sweet tooth.

My previous customers have also often bought more than one of these smaller canvases as they look great hung together - see the last pictures for examples.

It is painted in acrylics on a stretched cotton canvas that's ready to hang.
