This painting was made to capture the feeling of coming home that we get when we see the Didcot Power Station, which looms large on the horizon where we live in Oxfordshire. It has been there all my life and now is due to be pulled down in the near future. I personally love the graceful shape of these iconic buildings, although some see them as an eyesore; each to their own.
For this painting I used forget me not's and dandelion clocks in the fore ground to symbolise time passing and our fondness for the Didcot Towers.
This is a follow up painting to my work: "You'll Miss Us". That original painting won the People's Choice award in 2011 at The Didcot Art Exhibition.
I shall be sad when the Towers are pulled down and will definitely miss them when they are gone!
