This is Ganesh, the Indian God as a baby, imagined by me. He has that naughty look in his eyes which will endear him to any one.
Ganesh is the most favourite God of the Indians and his birthday is celebrated all over India as Ganesh Chathurthi. He dispels all hurdles in life, so a prayer is made to him before commencement of anything, a new venture or even a journey!
There is a long story in Indian mythology as to how he got his elephant head. And his vehicle is a mouse!! His brother Subramanya's vehicle is a peacock and his father Shiva wears a cobra around his neck while his mother rides a tiger! Indirectly, Indian mythology protects its fauna! Hinduism is more a way of life than a religion.
