Description:
I’ve always been completely mesmerized by the textures and curves of Antelope Canyon. The light, shadows and colors would change throughout the day, conjuring up a veritable kaleidoscope of nature. For those unfamiliar, Antelope is a slot canyon in Arizona that was formed by flash floods occurring during repeated monsoon rains. As the water and sand rushed into the canyon, over time passageways were created, through erosion and smoothing, eventually forming these amazing flowing shapes in the rock. I only had one day to shoot the canyon, so I had precious little time to get it right. Patiently I waited until the cascading diffused light began to stream into the canyon around mid-day. As the sun’s rays reflected off the loose sand, the shaft of light made for both a mysterious and simultaneously breathtaking composition.

Materials used:

*Hahnemuhle fine art gallery paper, 100% cotton, 308 gsm using archival pigment inks.
