This highly detailed Ink on Brown Paper piece was inspired by the incredible Chinese Banyan Trees that can be found all over Taiwan and Asia. I have been fascinated by these trees ever since arriving in Taiwan in 2001 and am amazed by the survival instincts and their ability to grow over, around and even through anything that lies in their way. They seem unstoppable and create many incredible shapes and angles with their branches and roots as they seek water. This picture was drawn over many “ en plein air” sessions from December 2014 to January 2015 in Nangang Park, Taipei City and exhibited in the Threshold Festival in Liverpool, U.K. later that year. I actually started with the intention of it only being the middle two pages of the picture. But, as I drew it in my sketchbook and the snake like roots stretched across my pages I decided to extend the image and tried to fit in all of the connected trees in that small hillside area. This picture is sold un-mounted as 6 adjoining pieces and is best suited to be mounted on Black Card and possibly framed if desired.
A note to International Buyers:
Shipping rates have increased in price all around the world due to Covid and other complications. Due to this I have had to increase the the cost of shipping my artworks in line with the Delivery Companies. I will always strive to find the cheapest possible option for the customer (usually my local POST OFFICE EMS Recorded Delivery, but unfortunately they don’t deliver worldwide at the moment) If the amount of shipping charged at purchase is less than the shipping company charges then I will refund the difference to the customer. This refund will be done after the picture has arrived safely and has been accepted.
Any import duties, taxes and charges that may be payable are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges, if applicable, will be the responsibility of the buyer. Please message me to check if this might affect your purchase.
