Original artwork description:
The town of Thames on the Coromandel peninsula to the east of Auckland gives the Firth its name. At low tide it's a long way out to the sea. There were all sorts of colours reflected in the shallow pools reflecting the sky, clouds, hills opposite, although the original shot has been modified somewhat. Firstly by my use of photographic filters to abstract the original image, then by my artist wife Val adding her interpretation with the addition of acrylic and textured paints to a canvas print of my image.
The result is a completely unique mixed media artwork.
