✨As I painted this piece, I contemplated the various names I would give it. Among them were: smile, hide and seek, play, reflections, mirrors, illusions. And although these are all elements of the painting, they all came together at the end, as the painting came together with all the matte, glossy, and reflective surfaces, to form a greater experience.
✨The result is irresistibly interactive, an artwork that invites and entices. You will gladly be lost in the maze of mirrors. From the amount of time I spent with the finished piece, putting it in different rooms, in different lighting, and most of all, noticing myself in it and playing with my reflection, there is one name that came to me that fit it perfectly and that is Narcissus.
✨The sharp edges are balanced with soft colors, the reflective surfaces with matte finishes. And when you see “it,” you will smile. 😊
🌞I finished this painting at night, and waiting for the sunlight the next morning because something magical happens at 2pm in my living room where the sun rays shine through the blinders and dance at the whim of the wind. I wanted to see how they would greet my painting but it was a cloudy day. I waited for the next day, longing for the sun and alas it came in the afternoon and met the reflective surface of my painting and I witnessed them getting to know each other, a gentle beautiful encounter. In the images, you can see how the painting looks with the sun rays upon them.
I have included two images with my own reflection in them to portray how reflective the surface is.
✨In order the enhance the hypnotic viewing experience, this painting is best paired with Liquid Spear Waltz by Michael Andrews or Cellar Door by Michael Andrews.🎶
