Original artwork description:

The painting is a portrait of a veteran from the Napoleonic war. Throughout time man has fought other countries over power, resources, control, defense and ego. I sought out images from wars of the past. seeking images of soldiers who had given their time and their life fighting for those in power. On the website Retronaut I came across images of Napoleonic soldiers and decided to paint a few images as portraits, keeping their identity anonymous, only allowing their uniform and their body language to speak to the viewer.

These were some of the last images I created before changing my style and research after I had spent a year travelling through Cyprus and Spain.
