Original artwork description:

Between strength and vulnerability Napoleon is described in Saint Helena. In this seventh work from the “In Majesty” series, power is defeated but remains resilient. It shows the intoxication which prevents one from resolving to defeat and renunciation. Inviting dialogue between the work and the viewer. This painting speaks of youth between combativeness and discouragement.
It is inspired by the history of art and Napoleonic iconography, notably “Napoleon I at Fontainebleau on March 31, 1814” by Paul Delaroche.
