I have encoded so much in this one - watercolor painting inspired by my Ukrainian auntie Galina, who lives in Kharkiv under russian shelling at the moment...
Galina has a red hair and she's very pretty , when smiling she reminds me of a cunning fox.
She is very positive and despite all she's been through , keeps sending me positive messages and pictures wishing a good day every morning. She's the one not to miss a chance to have a good laugh. So the painting was triggered by seeing her and my mom together finally on a video call from Kharkiv, where my family got evacuated from a village on the boarder with Lugansk Oblast. Mum reunited with the family to then continue her way home to Estonia.
The fox is a totem animal and a symbol of home and keeping home safe in this painting for me.
I have used 100% cotton Hahnemühle watercolor paper for this one.
