One of my first impressions of the Australian countryside - or bush, as it is called here - is its rivers.
Pristine is not a word that comes to mind when viewed from a strictly European perspective, but soon you realise that their unreconstructed rawness has an almost primeval quality about it. Dinosaurs would feel at home here, you think, and they almost certainly did. Unless of course you are one of those misguided souls whose « faith » instructs them that this planet is a mere 6000 years old.
