For the early weeks of lockdown my small terrace was my total sanctuary. It is an urban space - paving stones and brick walls but I have filled it with trees, climbers and flowers. Jasmine, lupins, geraniums, hollyhocks, tomato plants, salvia, an old olive tree and casting flickering shadows through its gorgeous star shaped leaves, a deep red acer. If I lie on my back I can imagine myself in an urban jungle. How better to express the beauty of this small space than with a really large painting, one of my biggest aluminium panels. Big brushstrokes, dabs of paint, loads of colour..this is my way of bringing the outside, inside!
