THE STORY

The day I moved into my NYC apartment -- after 7 days of hectic apartment-hunting, cleaning up, moving in and setting up all my stuff -- the moment all of that was done, and I lay down on the bed, my bed, and looked out of the window at the famed Manhattan skyline -- this artwork attempts to capture the memory of that moment forever.

THE PROCESS

Hand-drawn, hand-carved, and hand-pulled, this work has been created with a single block of linoleum, using the reduction process (one colour after the other printed from the same block with a stage of further carving in between). The sky gradation has been done using the stencil technique, and I have experimented with some fun new textures such as on the wall behind the bed! I have also added a touch of hand-colouring at the end, for the pillow and flower, which made it complete, for me.
