The work is an ash-pink sculpture in the form of a jellyfish, made with a rigid base and textiles: eco fur, lace, feathers.
The jellyfish itself is never static in nature. It is only by passing countless liters of water through its body that it moves forward.
The artist claims that the qualitative movement of a person along the path of life, the ability to dream big, the achievement of goals in pleasure is possible only through the true living of one's feelings.
The whole work is built on the contrasts of soft textile and wooden base, fragility and stability, movement and static.
The viewer can interact with the object, observe how the air movement makes the feathers placed among the tentacles ripple.
The delicate color palette calls for reflection.
The work encourages the viewer to have a new experience, to touch oneself from within and find an inner resource.
TOUCH SERIES
Sea creatures live in a kind of tactile deprivation. Getting in contact with them is possible but very unlikely to be an enjoyable experience for both sides.
Dreams and visions are a very intimate and delicate substance. In this series Valeria Golovenkina draws on ideas of the humanistic approach to psychology, inviting the viewer to ponder on accepting their own innermost feelings. The artist speculates on the effects that emotions might have on physical motion through the metaphor of furry marine creatures. Admitting the tenderness down deep inside of you and embracing your dark side, one becomes free, feels more life, achieve greater heights.
Having been inspired by natural forms, human can borrow their best qualities and utilise them in his technical achievements. At the same time, the distinctive features of the animal world can lead the viewer to a number of interesting associations and provide food for introspection.
Working with transformative properties of the material, Valeria invites the viewer to immerse themselves in sensations and being taken through new experience.
