This painting was inspired by the characterisation and strong portrayal of a woman in a predominantly man's world.

The subject, seen in profile, full of determination is based partly on the character played by Jessica Chastain in the film Molly's Game (or the director's version of her). The film tells the true story of Molly Bloom, a former Olympic-class skier who ran the world's most exclusive high-stakes poker game later becoming an FBI target. The film was directed and written by Aaron Sorkin, based on the memoir by Molly Bloom.

Painted with bold textures using a palette knife. 'My Goal Was To Win' is an empowering quote from the film and was chosen for the title of the painting to emphasise the importance of her resolve.
