I love animals, I absolutely adore dogs.
This particular painting is called "My family" and it is from the series "Dogs and Hats". I thought that hats actually suit dogs very well, shame they don't really like to wear them. But I could make them wear some posh hats on my painting. I think Basset Hounds are almost Royals, they have got this look!
So, this is a very sophisticated family of Basset Hounds, spending some quality time on the sofa talking about clever things and their son is just in the middle, pretending to like their conversation but really wouldn't mind to go and chase that squirrel in the garden :)

It has been painted with the best quality pastels and coloured pencils on a heavy weight paper.
This is very detailed artwork and in spite of being done with pastels is called painting because the surface is perfectly covered (few layers) and no paper shows through.
Using pastels when painting animals gives me an opportunity to achieve a wonderfully luscious, velvety texture and deep, rich colours.
The great advantages of the pastel paintings are that it will never crack, yellow or darken over time. When properly framed and securely hung, the particles will stay fixed in place for centuries.
