I am drawn to the nude as a symbol of vulnerability, and I am inspired by how the posture or stance of a body can offer information into the psyche of the person in the frame. In this work a female nude reclines on a surface decorated in a geometric design. She stares blankly forward as though running over an idea in her mind.
I've always been attracted to the medium of linocut because it allows me to create an image that makes strong use of line as opposed to painting which generally creates form using tone. Here the smooth lines of the body are contrasted with the sharp angularity of the triangle pattern in a way that I find very satisfying.
As all prints are hand pressed, each will have some minor differences, which I believe adds to the character of the print. I cannot guarantee that you will receive the edition featured in the photo.
