About Mila Moroko

Biography

Mila Moroko is a London-based contemporary painter whose work explores feminine identity, memory, inner states and the emotional presence of light.

Working primarily in oil, she moves between figurative painting, expressive portraiture and more atmospheric, semi-abstract compositions. Her paintings are built through layers of colour, texture and gesture, allowing recognisable forms to emerge, dissolve and shift between reality and perception.

The female figure is a recurring presence in her work — not as an idealised image, but as a way of exploring vulnerability, sensuality, intuition, resilience and psychological complexity.

In recent work, including the PEARLS / Threads of the Soul series, recurring symbols become carriers of memory and lived experience. The pearl, formed slowly through accumulation and transformation, becomes a metaphor for the inner self and the traces that time leaves behind.

Alongside her figurative work, Mila continues to explore light, nature, music and the visual legacy of painting itself. Across these different subjects, her focus remains on atmosphere, emotional ambiguity and the point at which an external image begins to reflect an internal state.

Mila lives and works in London. Her original paintings are held in private collections.
