Weaving a pattern of hands in an impossible shape is certainly not a sight that we see everyday. The artists' imagination was driven to illustrate the concept of freedom in entanglement - the question of whether we are really free and totally independent - or that, maybe, there are sensible links that within our society that allow us to preserve our individual freedoms.
Making the work first as a digital sketch, Virtosu chose to preserve a black/white image of the victorious hands to further drive home the social questions that stand at the foundation of this artwork. The work is made in 2015 in Romania - a fertile creative period when the young artist chose to explore complex and challenging themes.
