This is a portrait of McKinley Morganfield, better known as Muddy Waters.
Muddy was one of the leaders in the development of the blues in the United States.
I am from Mississippi and particularly interested in the way the Blues was originated in the Mississippi Delta.
Muddy was born in 1913 at a plantation near Clarksdale, Mississippi. You can read all about his interesting life at Wikipedia. Muddy's mo-jo quit working in 1983.
Muddy is a one of a kind, original work of art. It is produced using India ink and acrylic paint on 5 mil archival grade mylar. I have stayed with my usual pallet of warm “earthy” colors. For this work, the beer poster was printed and laminated to the mylar and the portrait of Muddy was painted over the poster.
The painting is signed on the front and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.
The mylar does not have to be stretched like canvas or watercolor paper. It is easy to mount on any type of board: plywood, masonite, foamboard, etc. I include simple mounting instructions with each piece that I sell. You can see these instructions at the “me at work” section of my shop. I include a hanging strip and a drywall hanging device. Everything that you need to mount your painting except the board.
