"Mt Walsh near Biggendan" by Rod Moore

Oil on Canvas
An hour north west of Maryborough is the Mt Walsh mountain range and national park.
The rocky cliff faces loom up from the surrounding fields and as the day headed to dusk the late afternoon sun turned the rocks into a golden orange.
It was worth the drive out. The location reminded me of the Grampians in Victoria.
I was relieved to find such a great subject. This is the country I love to paint ... dramatic mountain ranges set as back drops to burnt of fields and scraggly gum trees.
Hard to find on the Sunshine Coast where everything is 50 shades of green.
Mt Walsh near Biggendan is my kind of country and with a thousand potential subjects I will be returning there soon.
