Passing Shower on the Ridge – oil, paper and rock on canvas

Passing Shower on the Ridge is a mixed media piece incorporating lots of different elements which come together to make a dynamic image. Embedded in the image are fragments of sketches done whilst hillwalking, map fragments and details from rock scans. In addition to oil paint, I have added paint paint from rocks collected from the Scottish hills. In “Mountain Rain”, the darkest paint is made from ground slate from the Aberfoyle area. Some of the yellow and reddish hues are made from genuine Torridonian sandstone collected from, well; Torridon!

Framed and ready to hang, in a pain white wooden frame, this painting is fresh and modern.
