Artwork description:

The baby is only a few days old. The mother is nervous. Maybe it is irrational for her to think that her fellow beings might harm it. She moves through the forest, away from her group, and finds a secluded spot with only oblivious birds above and insect life below. The birds fall silent and Glitter, for that is the name of the new mother, visibly relaxes. Now is the time to indulge – to look at her precious infant for the millionth time and to groom her tiny, helpless daughter with love, care and devotion.

It was when Glitter started to groom Gossamer, as the baby was subsequently named, in Gombe National Park in Tanzania, that I felt that a photograph of the intangible, intimate maternal instinct was coming together.

This Giclee print is a colour print made on hannemuhle photo rag 308 gsm paper which has a very smooth surface. (Giclee describes a fine art printing process that combines pigment based inks with high quality archival quality paper). My Giclee prints have an extremely wide tonal range and colour gamut.

Options: The print can also be made on C-Type Paper (matt or gloss), or C-Type Metallic/Velvet, or Giclee Canvas. It can also be printed at different sizes.
