Artwork description:

It was truly freezing in Hell Valley, Japan, where your fingers could turn blue soon enough even with gloves on. The snow monkeys were about, a few soaking in a naturally heated thermal pool. I singled out a high ranking female with her young one and kept on observing them for any expression or gesture that could communicate their bond.

The moment occurred when the mother was dozy and the kid began to groom her face, tentatively at first. To me, a photograph is something that just happens and my part in the process, after research, scouting and choosing background and perspective, is to be open without pre-conceptions. I go with a blank slate. The value of this photograph is, perhaps, there are other non-humans mother and young pairs who are unlike us yet like us in my ways. Might be a good idea to share this planet with them.

This Giclee print is a colour print made on hannemuhle photo rag 308 gsm paper which has a very smooth surface. (Giclee describes a fine art printing process that combines pigment based inks with high quality archival quality paper). My Giclee prints have an extremely wide tonal range and colour gamut.

Options: The print can also be made on C-Type Paper (matt or gloss), or C-Type Metallic/Velvet, or Giclee Canvas. It can also be printed at different sizes.
