The upper half of this strong and expressive painting is dominated by light colours, creating a semi-circle around the figure of mother that bended above her child. The woman’s protective posture seems to glow with parental love and care. The baby is depicted in unnaturally white colour, symbolising purity and innocence. Pink air balloon in the child’s hand (Zakhar likes to use this symbol in his artworks) reminds us of childhood dreams and fantasies. Contrasting, predominantly dark foreground is the reality of surrounding world that is full of danger and unpleasant events.
