I have painted both mother and child in a sculptural form. The mother is clothed in white which is the colour of attire mothers who have just given birth wear in Ghana. In the background I picked out designs which are symbolic. On the right side a stool which symbolises Royalty is seen faintly. On the left hand side beside the mother is the shape of a head, two small hands on a body .This is the Akuaba fertility doll of Ghana which according to legend was carried by barren women who wanted to give birth, till they finally became mothers.
