The sculpture of Moses was one I found in Cimetière de Monmarte in Paris. Originally I took the picture because there was a beautiful grey cat sunning itself at the foot of the sculpture. The tomb turned out to be that of Daniel Iffla Osiris, who is a pretty interesting read on wikipedia!
This was first in a planned series of three skateboards inspired by classical sculpture.
I strip each skateboard down to the bare wood, preparing the surface for painting. When the painting is complete I protect it with five layers of varnish, which really brings out the wood grain.
This is acrylic on a 7ply Canadian maple skateboard. The truck holes in the board make for an easy hang!
